Joan Stevens loves plants

She is a botanist and ethnobotanist by training and a gardener by choice. She guerilla composts and works to improve the soil wherever she can. Joan teaches gardening, permaculture, and science classes in a variety of settings and is currently a biology instructor at Pasadena City College. She has two boys who are the inspiration for Two Suns Farm, an experimental micro-farm in Pasadena.  Her most recent passions are designing year-round cutting gardens and growing food in our challenging climate.

We will discuss how to select and grow flowers for spicing up snacks, adding color to salads, making fragrant herbal teas, and many other culinary applications.
