About Sophie: Sophie Pennes is the founder of Urban Farms LA, an edible and native gardening service that designs, builds & maintains landscapes for businesses and homes in LA County.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, Sophie has always had a unique appreciation for nature. After graduating from Chapman University with a degree in Communication and an emphasis in Environmental Studies, she started Urban Farms LA. She eventually continued her education at UCLA’s Horticulture Extension program, where her love for California native plants blossomed.

A dedicated advocate for the environment, Sophie hopes to inspire others to create a culture more dedicated to protecting the plant and animal species with which we live, and the planet as a whole. Sophie believes that with more interaction and understanding of the natural world, citizens will rise up to protect it.
